In the annual “On Air” contest, the swoosh brand allows independent designers from around the world to reinterpret Nike’s flagship models in their own style. Artist Yuta Takuman offers his Tokyo Maze version of the Nike Air Max 1, inspired by his hometown.
The Nike Air Max 1 Tokyo Maze features a two-tone black and white upper reminiscent of the subway lines, the dense population of Tokyo and representing a real labyrinth. The right shoe is the opposite of the right foot: white lines on a black background combined with a black tongue and inner lining. We find the inscription ” Tokyo Maze ” under the sole as well as multi-colored laces and a special “Nike Tokyo” tag on the tongue.
